Independent advisory for private
and institutional owners.
A second read on decisions already in motion, for owners who have people in place but want an independent view.
Oversight
What the service covers
Sometimes the useful thing is not another manager but someone to examine the proposal on the table, test the assumptions inside it, and say plainly whether it holds. Hostcol advises private owners, families, trustees, funds and corporate holders in London and across the United Kingdom.
We take advisory mandates without expecting the management work to follow. That independence is the point: our view is not shaped by what we might be paid to do next.
- Portfolio structure and strategy review
- Independent review of third-party proposals
- Managing agent performance assessment
- Acquisition and disposal second opinions
- Reporting design for owner governance
- Operational due diligence
- Interim oversight during transition
- Board and trustee briefing
Who it is for
Owners we typically help
- Trustees and boards who need an independent view for governance
- Family offices and private owners reviewing advice from other firms
- Owners unsure whether their managing agent is performing
- Institutions carrying out operational due diligence
We work with owners in London and across the United Kingdom.
How it starts
Three steps, in writing.
What you own, how it is held, and what is bothering you about it. No charge and no obligation.
What we think is going on, what we would do, what it would cost and what it should produce.
Scope, fee and notice agreed before any work starts. If the mandate is not right for us, we say so here.
What is an independent property advisor?
An independent property advisor gives owners objective advice on their property decisions without a stake in the outcome, for example reviewing a proposed purchase, a refurbishment plan or a managing agent's performance.
Do you only advise if we also hire you as managing agent?
No. We take advisory mandates on their own, and we do not expect management work to follow.
Can you review our current managing agent?
Yes. We assess performance against the management agreement and good practice, covering income, arrears, compliance, maintenance and reporting, and set out what should change.
Is this financial, tax or legal advice?
No. Hostcol is not a regulated financial adviser, tax adviser or law firm. Where a decision needs that expertise we will say so and work alongside the specialists you appoint.

Next step
Tell us what you own, and what is bothering you about it.
The first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. If we are not the right people, we will say so and point you somewhere better.
